Boracay Tourism
Boracay is the Philippine's major tourist destination. Tourist arrivals in 2005 was 499,457. The average yearly increase from 1998 to 2005 was about 20%. Local tourists accounted to 69% of arrivals in 2005 while foreign tourists consisted of 31% of arrivals. The influx of foreign tourist manifests an increasing trend since 2003, with Koreans registering the single largest nationality that visited the island, accounting to 65% of foreign tourists.
According to the recent survey of Department of Tourism, Boracay is in need of 10,000 hotel rooms for all tourist accommodation. And Boracay currently has only 5,000 hotel rooms available for accommodation. 50 % short of the total needed room accommodation.
In response to this tourism need, Crown Regency Hotel Chain came up with a great investment opportunity for serious investors and at the same time catering to Boracay tourism by coming up with Boracay Regency Resort and Convention Center to cater the local convention market at the very least and the Asian convention market at the most.
Since Boracay is mainly an island surrounded by wonderful beaches, it is sure to give unlimited possibilities of water activities that all tourists would love doing. Therefore, the very famous scuba diving and snorkelling will never be out of the picture in this paradise island.
Snorkeling is a recreational water activity that allows you to peek at the marvelous underwater life (marvel with the different species of fish, sea creatures, sea plants, coral and a whole lot of sea life). This activity lets you wear the tube attached to your mouth called snorkel, swimfins to help you swim faster underwater, a diving mask and wetsuit.
Scuba diving (the word scuba is an acronym which stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus), is very famous among all Filipinos and foreigners-alike. It is like snorkeling with a longer breathing capacity using a higher-end breathing apparatus -an air tank. Like snorkeling, scuba divers also use swimfins and wetsuits is a requirement. Scuba diving is ideal for a significant time of underwater activity or experience. Scuba divers are usually given a certificate every time they perform such activity.
The seas and coral life underneath are extremely given utmost care and are guarded from marine life wreckers to maintain its beauty for the island's tourism and more importantly the ecological system.
